Show your love for your pet by building it its own house

The days when a pet was just a simple companion are long gone, at least in terms of the accommodations we provide for the animal we have chosen to share our lives with. Nowadays, we can dress our dog or cat in the trendiest colors and garments but, if we can afford it, we might also consider building for it its own miniature house, just to show it we care. Here’s where Le Petite Maison comes in to offer us the best of the best in terms of accommodation. Architect Alan Mowrer and his partner interior designer Michael Pollack are the masterminds behind this unique idea. What they do is that they built custom-made dog or cat houses, which can either match the house of the owners or stand apart by its unique style and adornments. Because what we’re talking about here is not just a simple doghouse, like the one made from wood and not much else, but about genuine little pieces of art.

Speaking with “Pampered Puppy”, Michael Pollack explained that, while the idea might sound wacky to people who don’t own any pets, for those who have had one in their families for a longer period of time and who, of course, have the money and are willing to go to extreme lengths to keep it happy, it is actually very appealing. He also classified his clients in two major categories: those who see this as yet another way to make them look good in the eyes of their friends and those who do this for the pet, “who will spare nothing to ensure their pet is comfortable and well-cared for. They’ll focus on amenities that keep their pet happy, such as air conditioning, heat, and certain building materials they believe their pet ‘prefers’.”

However, given the amount of work that goes into building such a tiny piece of architecture (from a few weeks to several months, depending on style) and the materials that are needed (they are not made out of carton, that’s for sure), we should not expect these houses to go cheap. In fact, all Petite Maison mansions for dogs and cats are priced between $6,000 and $25,000 but money should probably not be an issue if we really want to make our pets happy.

  1. Money should not be an issue if we want to make our pups happy? Oh, if only that were true!

  2. Mind boggling! I would still rather be on the couch with my mum and dad, inside the real house!! 🙂

Wow! Personally, I don’t think it really matters how big of a dog house your dogs have(or if they even have one) as long as they’re happy! 🙂

  6. Cute as can be, but our babies are inside kids. They do have their own bedroom though, a baby bed, little chair and table, intertainment center, and TV, that yes, stays on the Animal Planet!!

  7. Mmm!! we much prefer to live with our Mom and Dad!! xoxox
