Ever reach beneath the sofa cushions and retrieve lost change? Or an earring? Ever lose the remote when it slips beneath the pillows? Ever reach into the sofa and pull out a cat? No? Vickie Mendenhall of Spokane, Washington has!
MSNC reports today that after purchasing a used sofa for $27.00, Mendenhall began hearing strange sounds in her living room, but was unable to locate the source. However, when her boyfriend, Chris Lund, felt something move beneath him as he sat on the couch watching television, the couple discovered they had a frightened, hungry tenant. Lund pulled the couch away from the wall to investigate, and found a calico cat hiding in a hole on the underside.
Unable to locate the cat’s owner through the store where she purchased the couch, Mendenhall took the cat to the animal shelter where she works, and contacted the media for assistance. Shortly thereafter, Bob Killion of Spokane showed up at the shelter to claim his lost cat. Killion had donated the sofa on February 19th, the same day his nine year old cat, Callie, disappeared. Thanks to Mendenhall’s dedication to animals, Callie and her “Daddy” were happily reunited.
You never know what you will find hidden in your furniture! And you never know how being an animal lover can assist animals/owners in need!
